By A Correspondent| Constitutional law expert and opposition figure Lovemore Madhuku has vowed to resist the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, declaring that growing public opposition will ultimately defeat the controversial measure.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on social media on 15 March 2026, exactly two weeks after what he described as a \u201cbrutal assault,\u201d Madhuku said he had drawn strength from Zimbabweans who are firmly against the proposed changes.<\/p>\n

Madhuku was reportedly assaulted by police earlier this month while addressing supporters of his party at his offices in Harare. The incident drew concern from civil society groups and opposition circles, with critics accusing authorities of using heavy-handed tactics to silence dissenting voices.<\/p>\n
The outspoken lawyer has emerged as one of the leading figures opposing the proposed constitutional amendment, which has sparked debate across the country. He is also representing a group of war veterans who have mounted a legal challenge against the bill, arguing that it undermines democratic principles and constitutional safeguards.<\/p>\n
