Reports indicate that he had been opposing the proposed legislation at the time of the incident.

In a statement, ADM warned that the situation reflects a growing climate of fear and intimidation.

“Student activism is not a crime. What we are witnessing today is not just an attack on one individual — it is an attack on all of us,” the party said.

The movement expressed concern over what it called a disturbing pattern of targeting young voices, particularly students engaged in national discourse.
“The reported abduction of a student leader for simply expressing his views is deeply alarming and strikes at the very heart of our constitutional democracy,” the statement read.

ADM emphasised the role of students in society, rejecting any attempts to criminalise their participation in public affairs.

“Students are not criminals. They are citizens. They are thinkers, leaders, and the future of this nation. When students begin to disappear for speaking out, it signals a dangerous erosion of our freedoms.”

The party reiterated that fundamental rights must be upheld, warning against the normalisation of repression.

“No one should be punished for exercising their constitutional rights. Freedom of expression, assembly, and participation in national affairs are not privileges — they are rights,” ADM said.

The organisation called for urgent action, including “the immediate and safe release of Dylan Cole,” as well as “a transparent investigation into all reported abductions” and “accountability for those responsible, regardless of their position.”

It also urged authorities to put an end to what it described as intimidation and violence against citizens.

“Zimbabwe cannot move forward under a cloud of fear. A government that listens to its people is stronger than one that silences them. Dialogue, not repression, is the foundation of a stable and prosperous nation,” the statement added.

Addressing young people, ADM encouraged peaceful engagement in civic matters.

“To the students and young people of Zimbabwe: your voices matter. But let your actions remain guided by discipline, unity, and peace.”

The movement concluded by calling on citizens to speak out against injustice.
“Silence in the face of injustice only allows it to grow. This is a moment for national reflection and collective responsibility. We must choose a Zimbabwe where rights are respected, where no family lives in fear, and where leadership is accountable to the people.”

ADM said the country’s future depends on collective action taken now.

Related

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-1669381584671856"
     data-ad-slot="3579572842"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>
#Student #Leaders #Abduction #Sparks #Outrage #ZimEye

Student Leader’s Abduction Sparks Outrage By A Correspondent – The Action Democratic Movement (ADM) has strongly condemned the reported abduction…

[32,11
633,6694,155,202,1463,741,2283
post-53606","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mzansi","category-world","tag-abduction","tag-eduzim","tag-leaders","tag-news","tag-outrage","tag-sparks","tag-student
["GET
