A decent sum, perhaps, on the surface of it. That is until you compare it to the prize money on offer for finishing one position higher in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">According to the Premier League website, in 2024-25 each position was worth \u00a32.7m, so finishing 17th, one place above the drop, earned \u00a310.8m &#8211; more than five times the amount for winning the FA Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Not only this, but the financial impact of relegation is enormous. Broadcast money, plus matchday and commercial revenue all take hits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">And while the actual amount will vary on a club-by-club basis, football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes dropping out of the top flight in 2025-26 will cost clubs an average of \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The club that finished bottom of the Premier League two years ago, the last set of dates we have, got \u00a3111m,&#8221; Maguire told the Daily Mail in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I think by the end of this season, we&#8217;ll be looking at somewhere in the region of \u00a3120m from the television companies alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;That will drop to around \u00a345m in the Championship, so that is already about \u00a375m [lost].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Once you add the loss of matchday and commercial revenue, it means clubs are staring down the barrel of \u00a3100m+ losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">So, when it comes to rotating players, is it really any wonder that managers are increasingly choosing to use domestic cup competitions as rotatory playgrounds?<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">While there is seemingly a lot to gain for fans, and you could argue the players, that gain isn&#8217;t nearly as appealing for many of those charged with steering the ships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script data-jetpack-boost=\"ignore\" async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1669381584671856\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- Africa tv video display -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1669381584671856\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3579572842\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script data-jetpack-boost=\"ignore\">\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n#Survival #Cup #glory #Leeds #West #Ham #fans #prefer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The winner of this year&#8217;s men&#8217;s FA Cup will pocket \u00a32.1m in prize money.
