However, despite this significant influx of funds, many are questioning the visibility of developments and the lack of programs showcasing Zimbabwe on the international map.

According to Minister of Information, Zhemu Soda, the revenue is being used to expand the radio’s terrestrial infrastructure, boost signal accessibility, and promote local content production. Ten new film hubs are being established, and equipment upgrades are underway to improve broadcast quality. Yet, critics argue that these efforts are not yielding tangible results, and the country’s broadcasting landscape remains stagnant.

“The funds are supposed to support training and quality upgrades, shifting from basic broadcast to captivating shows,” Soda said. However, the impact of these initiatives is not evident, and ZBC’s programming continues to lack the vibrancy and relevance needed to put Zimbabwe on the global stage.

The Broadcasting Services Amendment Act of 2025 is expected to increase revenue collection, but the public is calling for transparency and accountability in the use of these funds. As ZBC continues to collect licence fees, the question remains: where is the money going, and what tangible benefits can the nation expect?

Related

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-1669381584671856"
     data-ad-slot="3579572842"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>
#Wheres #Money #Impact #ZimEye

ZBC’s US13Million Boom: Where’s the Money Impact?
