Mpofu’s vociferous criticism of the President’s decision has been met with skepticism, with many questioning his motives and timing.

Majome’s reassignment, it must be emphasized, is not a demotion, but rather a redeployment to a role of equal standing. As a seasoned lawyer, Mpofu ought to know that commissioners in all independent institutions, including the ZHRC, hold “judge-level” qualifications. The President’s decision is well within his constitutional mandate, as outlined in Section 242 of the Constitution.

Speculation has been rife that Majome’s reassignment is linked to her comments on the proposed Constitutional Amendment Number 3. Be that as it may, it is imperative to note that Majome has accepted her new role, thereby tacitly endorsing the President’s decision. Mpofu’s attempts to whip up a frenzy are thus nothing more than a desperate attempt to score cheap political points.

The ZHRC plays a vital role in promoting human rights and the rule of law in Zimbabwe. Its reports have far-reaching implications, shaping public perception and influencing international relations. It is thus essential that the commission maintains the highest standards of professionalism and impartiality. Majome’s reassignment, far from being a setback, presents an opportunity for the ZHRC to regroup and refocus on its core mandate.

Mpofu’s belligerent stance is nothing new. His history of clashing with judges and commissions has earned him a reputation as a divisive figure. His latest outburst is merely a manifestation of his own biases and agendas. It is high time he was called out for his antics and checked before his inflated ego causes further damage.

In conclusion, the President’s decision to reassign Majome is a lawful exercise of his constitutional powers. Mpofu’s objections are baseless and motivated by a desire to score cheap political points. It is time for all stakeholders to move on and focus on the real issues facing Zimbabwe.

Related

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-1669381584671856"
     data-ad-slot="3579572842"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>
#Storm #Teacup #Majome #Reassignment #Saga

A Storm in a Teacup: The Majome Reassignment Saga | Mavaza By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The recent reassignment of…

[32,11
10403,9950,5000,3188,10427
post-55869","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mzansi","category-world","tag-majome","tag-reassignment","tag-saga","tag-storm","tag-teacup
["GET
