ZANU-PF Supporters Invade Mutare Teachers College for Constitutional Amendment Bill Rally<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
Tinashe Sambiri\u2013 Hundreds of ZANU-PF supporters converged at Mutare Teachers\u2019 College on Sunday for a rally in support of the proposed Constitution Amendment No. 3 Bill.<\/p>\n
Addressing party members, ZANU-PF National Secretary for Legal Affairs Patrick Chinamasa said the proposed changes are intended to protect Zimbabwe\u2019s sovereignty and promote policy consistency.<\/p>\n
He argued that the Bill would help maintain developmental progress under the Second Republic by minimising disruptions linked to frequent elections.
\u201cThe Bill elongates the electoral cycle from five to seven years for everyone. This principled stance underscores our dedication to enduring democratic norms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Provincial leaders also voiced support for the proposed legislation, describing it as key to maintaining momentum toward Zimbabwe\u2019s Vision 2030 targets.<\/p>\n
ZANU-PF Manicaland Province Chairperson Tawanda Mukodza said supporters want President Emmerson Mnangagwa to continue implementing his development agenda.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want our President to continue his work to 2030 and beyond because the people on the ground are seeing the results of his leadership,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, emphasised the importance of continuity for long-term transformation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are fully behind this amendment because it gives our leader more time to complete the work he has started. We cannot disrupt Vision 2030 with constant elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
ZANU-PF Central Committee member Paul Tungwarara highlighted the need for a stable political environment to sustain infrastructure development and attract investment.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s League provincial chairperson Dorothy Mabika said the amendment would enhance stability for families and the economy, while provincial youth chairperson Stanley Sakupwanya described young people as key beneficiaries of the proposed reforms.
During the rally, two borehole drilling rigs were handed over to war veterans in Manicaland, underscoring efforts to improve their welfare.<\/p>\n
ZANU-PF National Secretary for War Veterans Douglas Mahiya said the gesture reflects the government\u2019s commitment to empowering liberation war veterans.<\/p>\n
The Constitution Amendment No. 3 Bill is currently at the committee reporting stage, with Parliament compiling public submissions ahead of its second reading in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
