Zanu PF Should Tell People What To Do, Declares Chinamasa Amid Tension Over CAB3<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
Tinashe Sambiri\u2013 Zanu PF treasurer Patrick Chinamasa has stirred fresh debate after telling party supporters that the ruling party must assert firm control, framing Zimbabwe\u2019s liberation struggle as a fight for complete authority rather than compromise.<\/p>\n
Addressing supporters recently, Chinamasa said the sacrifices made during the war of liberation justified the party\u2019s expectation of unquestioned political dominance. \u201cWe did not go to war to have half power. Some people died during the war and some people sacrificed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He went further to suggest that the party should take a directive approach in guiding citizens, remarks that come at a time of heightened tension surrounding the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3). \u201cZanu PF should tell people what to do,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n
Chinamasa also expressed strong confidence that the proposed Bill would pass through Parliament without resistance, using a sporting metaphor to underline his certainty. \u201cWe are very sure that we are going to score through MPs for the Bill to pass, as there is no goalkeeper and no one is going to stop it.\u201d<\/p>\n
His comments are likely to intensify discussions around democratic space and political authority, particularly as debate over CAB3 continues to divide opinion.<\/p>\n
