The Association views these global reforms as aligned with its broader vision of restoring professionalism and accountability within Zimbabwean football,&#8221; reads the statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the international game continues to evolve, ZIFA remains committed to adopting best practices and ensuring that local competitions reflect the highest standards of behaviour, both on and off the pitch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The amendments, which will come into effect ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, introduce harsher penalties for player behaviour\u2014particularly targeting protests against referees and actions deemed to conceal misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Any player who leaves the field of play in protest can now be shown a straight red card, with team officials who encourage such actions also liable for punishment.
