ZNA Warns Public Over Fake Army Recruitment Ad on Social Media<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
By A Correspondent \u2013 The Zimbabwe National Army has warned citizens to be alert for a fraudulent recruitment advertisement circulating online, saying scammers are trying to mislead and defraud job seekers.<\/p>\n
In a statement released on 29 April 2026, ZNA Director of Army Public Relations Colonel Hlengivwe Dube said the fake advert was being spread by \u201cmischief makers\u201d on social media platforms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Zimbabwe National Army would like to inform members of the public to be on the lookout for a fake ZNA recruitment advert circulating on social media platforms,\u201d Dube said. \u201cThe fake recruitment advert was flighted by some mischief makers who are circulating it to mislead and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
The army stressed that no recruitment drive for general duty soldiers has been announced for 2026. \u201cThe ZNA would like to categorically state that, the organisation has not flighted any general duty soldiers\u2019 recruitment advert for 2026,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
Dube also clarified the army\u2019s official recruitment process. \u201cThe ZNA does not use social media platforms for the purpose of recruitment. The organisation uses formal communication channels such as electronic and print media,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The public was further warned that the ZNA never uses third parties to recruit and does not charge applicants any fees. \u201cMembers of the public are once again advised that the ZNA does not engage third parties for recruitment nor do they charge a fee on applicants,\u201d Dube said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone caught associating themselves with recruiting in the ZNA will be prosecuted,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n
Citizens who encounter people posing as army recruitment agents should contact Military Police on 0712842318 or 0772258410, or report to the nearest police station or military camp.<\/p>\n
