The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reminisced about the Warriors’ final Group B match against South Africa at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing the game as one that “had everything.”
The match ended in a 3-2 victory for South Africa, although it was evenly contested throughout.
Bafana Bafana’s Tshepang Moremi opened the scoring in the 7th minute, before Tawanda Maswanhise produced a brilliant solo effort to equalise for the Warriors ten minutes later.
Early in the second half, Lyle Foster restored South Africa’s lead, but Zimbabwe responded again in the 74th minute through an Aubrey Modiba own goal.
Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba was later penalised for handball in the closing stages, allowing Oswin Appollis to convert from the spot in the 81st minute.
In a video shared on X, CAF captioned it: “South Africa vs Zimbabwe. Yeah, this one had everything.”
