Mel and Peet Viljoen face deportation as new scam claims surface

Mel and Peet Viljoen to be deported to South Africa

Reality TV personalities Mel Viljoen and Peet Viljoen are reportedly on their way back to South Africa following their recent legal troubles in the United States.

The couple, known for their appearance on The Real Housewives of Pretoria, made headlines after they were arrested in the US, allegedly for stealing food from a grocery store.

Their situation has since escalated, with fresh allegations emerging about fraudulent activities during their stay abroad.

According to reports, authorities in the US are preparing to deport the pair, meaning they could soon return home to face further scrutiny.

Private investigator Mike Bolhuis claims he has been approached by multiple individuals accusing the Viljoens of scamming them out of money.

The alleged victims say they paid amounts ranging between R5,000 and R10,000, believing the couple could assist them in relocating to the US.

“Many people have contacted us saying they lost R5000 thinking the Viljoens could be the gateway to America,” Bolhuis said.

He further alleged that several scams were carried out during the short period the couple spent overseas, describing the situation as “unbelievable.”

Bolhuis also claimed that the couple’s entry into the US may have involved manipulated or falsified documents, adding that authorities are not willing to keep them in the country due to their alleged illegal status.

Despite the growing list of accusations, the couple is reportedly preparing to fight the charges.

Their lawyer, Ryan Berger, indicated that they intend to plead not guilty when they appear in court, with proceedings expected to continue in May 2026.

The saga has sparked widespread reaction online, with many South Africans weighing in on the unfolding drama and the possibility of the couple being sent back to face the consequences at home.
