Tino Machakaire Fires Back At ‘Fabricated’ Claims

…as he dismisses online stories about his personal life

By A Correspondent| Youth Minister Tino Machakaire has dismissed online media reports alleging to document aspects of his personal life, describing them as riddled with misinformation and misleading claims.

The remarks come after some online outlets, including The NewsHawks, published stories referencing his political journey and personal background.

“Allow me to say that you have no personal knowledge of my life and your assertions are grossly misinformed. As a public office bearer, I am accountable for my work, my conduct and the results I deliver, not for speculative narratives about my personal life,” Machakaire wrote on social media in response to the reports.

“No amount of mudslinging will ever separate me from my President, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and my Party, ZANU PF. My loyalty remains firm and unwavering. I fully support the progressive step towards strengthening governance, ensuring policy consistency, and advancing our national development agenda towards Vision 2030,” he wrote.

Machakaire has recently attracted widespread support on social media after urging young people to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities rather than rely on government tenders.

He stated that he has never been awarded a government tender, a remark that sparked debate online.

While some public figures attempted to criticise his comments, their views were largely drowned out by supportive responses endorsing his message.

His popularity on social media and within communities appears to be growing steadily, with supporters praising his ability to connect with people across different age groups.

Machakaire has devoted significant attention to youth empowerment. Recognising Zimbabwe’s predominantly young population, he has consistently advocated for programmes aimed at expanding access to education, entrepreneurship, and skills development.

As the Member of Parliament for Hwedza South, he has also built a reputation for constituency-based initiatives focused on education and economic empowerment. Several young people in the area have reportedly benefited from support enabling them to pursue schooling or vocational training.

Locals often describe him as a hands-on leader who maintains a visible presence and remains accessible to the community.

Beyond constituency work, Machakaire has at times spoken candidly on national issues, even when such interventions carried political sensitivity.

Last year, he drew attention after publicly highlighting conditions in some public hospitals at a time when few officials were speaking out. His remarks resonated with citizens concerned about the state of the health sector and were later acknowledged at the highest level, prompting renewed attention to hospital rehabilitation efforts.

For observers, the episode underscored a leadership style characterised by frankness combined with loyalty to broader national priorities.

In a political environment where youth leadership has often been associated with controversy, Machakaire has sought to project a different approach — one centred on discipline, unity and development-focused engagement.

His emphasis has been on constructive participation rather than confrontation, and on practical programmes rather than rhetoric.

As Zimbabwe’s youth constitute the majority of the population, the direction of youth leadership remains a critical factor in shaping the country’s political and socio-economic future.

Machakaire’s approach suggests an attempt to reposition youth politics towards development-oriented engagement grounded in discipline and national service.

If sustained, analysts say, this trajectory could mark a notable shift in the tone and substance of youth leadership within the ruling party and beyond.
