ZIFA Suspends Referee Kalota Patrick for Six Matches Over Controversial Decision

Sports Correspondent -The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has suspended match official Kalota Patrick from officiating Premier Soccer League fixtures for six weeks following a disputed decision.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the association confirmed that the ban will run from Matchday 7 to Matchday 12 of the league programme.

“ZIFA announces the suspension of match official Kalota Patrick from officiating Premier Soccer League matches for six weeks, with the suspension covering matchday 7 to matchday 12,” the association said.

The disciplinary action stems from a report submitted by the match commissioner after the Premier Soccer League encounter between Highlanders FC and FC Platinum held at Barbourfields Stadium on April 4, 2026.

According to ZIFA, the official made a critical error during the match that directly influenced the final result.
“According to the report, the match official made an incorrect decision which determined the outcome of the match,” the statement read.

ZIFA indicated that the suspension was imposed in accordance with its disciplinary framework.

“The suspension is in line with Article 22 of the Referees Code of Conduct,” the association added. The football governing body reiterated its commitment to improving standards within the local game, particularly in officiating.

“The Association remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability in match officiating as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the game in Zimbabwe,” the statement said.
