Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari makes frank admission after defeat to CAPS United

Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari has made a frank admission after his side suffered their first defeat of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Bosso lost 2-1 to rivals CAPS United in a Matchday 9 encounter played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Mwaruwari admitted that they played badly and could not recover after going two goals behind.

“We conceded from two set-pieces, and when you do that while not playing well, it’s difficult to come back.

“We played the last 20 minutes with zeal and caused them problems, but unfortunately, it was too late. This is a lesson for my boys,” the Highlanders coach said.

CAPS took a two-goal advantage through Kudzai Chigwida in the 36th minute and Malawi international striker Lloyd Njaliwa in the 65th minute.

Highlanders got a consolation later on, scoring through Darlington Mukuli in the 75th minute.
