FIFA Under Fire for Awarding Trump Peace Prize Without Council Vote
Sports Correspondent – Norway’s football chief wants FIFA to scrap its Peace Prize and has supported a formal ethics case against President Gianni Infantino.
Lise Klaveness, head of the Norwegian Football Association, criticized the decision to present the award to Donald Trump during the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw. She says the move bypassed the FIFA Council and was never officially authorized.
Klaveness argues that football’s governing body should stay out of politics. In her view, FIFA doesn’t have the authority or capacity to hand out peace awards and risks compromising its neutrality by aligning with high-profile political leaders.
