Shock As Crocodile Wanders Into Victoria Falls Hotel Kitchen

By A Correspondent – Guests at a luxury lodge near Victoria Falls got more than they bargained for when a massive crocodile wandered onto the property and headed straight for the dining area.

The 13-foot crocodile is thought to have crawled out of the Zambezi River before entering A’Zambezi River Lodge and making a beeline for the Amulonga Restaurant buffet counter, staff said.

Finding the restaurant shut, the reptile pressed on into the kitchen, sparking panic among employees and tourists.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority spokesperson Luckmore Safuli confirmed the incident, noting that rangers quickly contained the situation. “The situation was swiftly brought under control and assured the public that both guests and staff were safe throughout the encounter,” Safuli said.

Lodge manager Liam Khumbula said wildlife encounters are common at the property, with guests often spotting “hippos, elephants, warthogs, and monkeys both within the grounds and along the riverbanks.”

“This is part of what makes A’Zambezi River Lodge a distinctive and sought-after destination,” Khumbula said. “During this recent incident, some of our international guests expressed excitement at witnessing such a rare occurrence.”

He added that animals have entered the lodge before and the staff are prepared. “The experienced team is well trained to respond swiftly and effectively to such situations,” Khumbula said.
