Zimbabwean duo’s parent club relegated from top-flight league

Warriors internationals Tawanda Chirewa and Marshall Munetsi’s parent club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been relegated from the English Premier League.

Wolves’ relegation was confirmed on Monday after the match involving Crystal Palace and West Ham United ended in a goalless draw.

The result left West Ham sitting 16th on the table, still battling to avoid the drop, but it sealed the fate of bottom-placed Wolves, who are now unable to accumulate enough points from their remaining five games to survive relegation.

Wolves are home to Zimbabwe internationals Chirewa and Munetsi, although both players are currently out on loan.

Munetsi is featuring for Paris FC in Ligue 1, while Chirewa is at Barnsley FC in League One.

The pair, who are still under contract with Wolves, departed on loan during the January transfer window following the arrival of head coach Rob Edwards in November last year.
