The crash, which occurred at night under low visibility conditions, saw the ambulance overturn onto its side, with emergency responders rushing to the scene amid flashing lights and scattered debris across the roadway.
Eyewitnesses say the ambulance had been travelling from Murewa en route to Parirenyatwa Hospital, carrying a patient at the time of the incident. The impact with the Land Rover Discovery is reported to have been sudden, leaving little time for evasive action.
Images from the scene show paramedics and emergency personnel attempting to access the overturned ambulance, with its rear compartment visibly damaged. The Land Rover Discovery, which remained upright, sustained front-end damage and came to a halt a short distance from the impact point.
Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as emergency services worked to secure the scene and attend to those involved. The condition of the patient and other occupants has not yet been officially confirmed.
The cause of the accident remains unclear, though the positioning of the vehicles suggests a possible high-impact side collision at the junction.
Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
