Tensions are escalating at Manica Diamonds following revelations that the club’s new owner has issued a warning to players, insisting he does not recognise their existing contracts and will not be held responsible for any outstanding salaries owed by the previous administration.
Soccer24 understands that the new owner, Africa Mineral Venture, told players this morning that they are starting on a clean page, making it clear that any agreements signed under the former ownership are null and void.
The players are owed salaries dating back to November 2025.
The drastic measures unsettled the players, leading to a boycott of Thursday’s training session in protest.
Africa Mineral Venture further told all players that they will have to sign fresh contracts under revised terms if they wish to remain at the club.
The stance has sparked outrage within the squad, particularly among players who are still owed months of unpaid salaries and signing-on fees.
In addition, the new owner has reportedly slashed match-winning bonuses from US$500 to US$150.
Africa Mineral Venture’s ownership takeover was completed last week after Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamonds Company, who founded the club in 2017, sold the club’s franchise.
