Zimbabwean midfielder Andy Rinomhota has suffered a setback that could impact his future at Reading FC.
Rinomhota joined the League One side late last year on a deal running until the end of the season, after spending the opening part of the campaign without a club following his departure from Cardiff City in June.
Since arriving at Reading, he has struggled for regular game time, managing a mere 123 minutes amid a spell disrupted by personal issues and injuries.
Most of those minutes came on Saturday when he featured in the 3-1 defeat to Cardiff City. He started the match but later picked up an injury and was substituted in the 89th minute.
The setback comes at a time when the midfielder is in talks to renew his contract.
Reading coach Leam Richardson told Greatest Hits Radio, as cited by The Reading Chronicle:
“Unfortunately Andy picked up an injury on Saturday, so he’ll be unavailable this weekend, and for the foreseeable as well, which is unfortunate.
“So it’s making sure that he goes with our schedule, with our level, make sure from a professional point of view that we make sure we get him back fit and well, because he’s had obviously a bit of a challenging season, but yeah, he’s somebody I know very well as a person, as a player, so the conversation will continue.”
