All African nations back Infantino for another FIFA term


All 54 African football associations have thrown their full support behind Gianni Infantino for another term as FIFA president, in a strong show of unity from the continent ahead of the next election cycle.

The decision was reached during a high-level meeting convened by Patrice Motsepe on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver, Canada.

In a statement, CAF confirmed that its entire membership had unanimously agreed to back Infantino for the 2027–2031 term.

“CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe held a meeting on Wednesday 29 April 2026, in Vancouver Canada on the eve of the 76 FIFA Congress with the 54 CAF Member Associations.

“The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027–2031,” reads the statement.

The endorsement reinforces Infantino’s strong backing within African football.

The next FIFA presidential election is scheduled to be held on March 18, 2027, in Morocco.
