Walter Magaya Fraud Case Postponed
By A Correspondent – The fraud proceedings involving Walter Magaya have been pushed back to 5 June after prosecutors indicated they are still gathering evidence.
Magaya, the founder of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, appeared in court alongside his wife, Tendai, where they are facing 13 fraud-related charges tied to a high-value church housing scheme that allegedly never took off.
The case also implicates two companies linked to the couple, Planet Africa (Pvt) Ltd and Yadah Connect (Pvt) Ltd. These entities were represented during court proceedings by operations manager Tatenda Chinguwa.
The prosecution applied for more time, telling the court that investigations into the matter are not yet complete, making it premature to proceed with trial.
According to the state, the alleged offences occurred between 2016 and 2018, when Magaya and his co-accused are said to have misled congregants and members of the public by claiming they had acquired land for housing stands and investment opportunities.
The locations cited in the allegations include Chishawasha, Westgate, Norton, Arcturus, Ruwa, Manyame, Nyatsime, Mutare, Kwekwe and Bulawayo, where the promised developments reportedly failed to materialise.
Magaya, his wife and representatives of the companies are now expected to return to court on 5 June, when the matter is set to resume, subject to the state completing its investigations.
