Kaitano Tembo speaks on Takesure Chiragwi’s return to Warriors technical team

New Zimbabwe national team coach Kaitano Tembo has welcomed the return of Takesure Chiragwi to the Warriors technical team, describing the reunion as “something very important”.

Chiragwi’s comeback was confirmed in a newly announced technical team setup revealed on Monday following the resignation of Marian Marinica, with Tembo taking charge on an interim basis.

The former Ngezi Platinum Stars coach, now with CAPS United, returns as first assistant, ending a four-month absence after stepping down from his role in the aftermath of a widely publicised slapping incident involving Macdonald Makuwe during his time at the Mhondoro-based side.

The incident not only led to his suspension Ngezi, but also forced Chiragwi to vacate his position on the Warriors technical bench just weeks before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking to ZIFA Media, Tembo highlighted the importance of his working relationship with Chiragwi, suggesting that their familiarity will be key in ensuring stability within the squad.

“It is very important. We have worked together before and there is mutual understanding and respect. That cohesion in the technical team allows us to focus on the bigger picture, which is preparing the players and ensuring the team performs at its best,” said Tembo.
