Zimbabwe School Examinations Council Takes Strict Measures Against Exam Leakage

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has taken strict measures to prevent the leakage of examination papers, which threaten to bring the country’s education sector into disrepute. Zimsec will deregister schools and exam centers found to be complicit in the leakage of examination papers, while the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education will deal with headmasters implicated in these malpractices.

These strict measures come after 5,156 Advanced and Ordinary level candidates’ results were nullified in the October to December 2022 national examinations for having pre-access to the examination papers. There is suspicion that some school heads made the papers available to candidates before the exams.

The A-Level results were released on January 13, with Zimsec withholding results for 195 candidates. The ‘O’ Level results, where results for 4,961 candidates were nullified, were released on Friday.
