WHEN THE RAIN FELL

When the rain fell is a poem that talks about hope that comes about as a result of the rains that have just fallen..

The land has been dry and veld fires had made sure there is no life at all..

But the rains seem to have decided  not to comeback and people encountered droughts for a very long time

The first stanza talks about wat happened wen the rains came.. People had indeed lost hope till the day the the rains came.. It washed away the lifelessness that had been caused by the burning of grass as well as long periods of dry spells..

The rivers were filled with dirty water that had taken all the residue that is usually found on mother earth..

The following year according to the poem the rains came and did the same thing that it did the previous year.. It again met with burnt grass and struggled to wet the ground since there had been yet another dry spell..

It then went back to the skies as if it’s being scared of something.. It went away and never returned..

The poem used narration to tell how things came to be wat they are today..

There is use of contrast on the way the rain fell the prev yr and the current one.. The prev year the rains were plenty unlike the current year.. It seems the rain kept dwindling in amount..

Use of personification wen the rains are said to have choked and coughed.. This just means that the ground was just too dry for the water failed to contain it..

Use of diction the word splutter means the rains came hurriedly and was also little..

Use of repetition that creates anaphora wen the rains fell.. They had good anticipation for two good years but thing didnt happen the way they should

The last stanza is intricately woven to make it seem like the earth has scared the rains away and there is also use of personification there..

Use of adjectives etc all contribute to how wat was supposed to be a hopeful situation ended up hopeless
